My aim is to work with the customer until he is happy. They are others that tune and will be better or worst than me. Thanks for the kind feedback cracklincrotch and because of such feedback, I am one of very very few tuners who got to tune the 2002 Subaru Legacy S401 STI Version because the customer felt I was the only one with the experience, knowledge and customer feedback to do so. Sometimes I wish I could tell lies and get people money, but I don't want too because it will come back to bite me sometime later. I'd send him an engine log and I'd have a new rom to try in less than 30 minutes on more than a few occasions.įor tuning an XT, I think Ed at $377 is a steal. I have no idea when the guy sleeps because when ever I've sent an email or IM I get a knowledgable response back in under 15 minutes 80% of the time. The tune/service side isn't as good as others, they know it, and charge accordingly - this could be bad for you, but everybody has a budget and this is who they market to.Įd still supports me today, five months later, with any questions or concerns I have about the performance of my car, no extra charge. Doesn't realize the tune is worth more and are undercutting themselves - this could be a bad thing for them, but not you Ĥ. Money is money and there's never enough ģ. It's a side/hobby business - nothing necessarily wrong with this. It's a loss leader to help get better established in the business - nothing wrong with this. So, in my sole opinion, it leaves some of these as possibilities with other tuner:ġ. I couldn't make money in dedicating the time Ed did on me at $175. I've been self employed since high school. $175 seems low to me, considering the attention I got from Ed. And if he was happy, with all his knowledge and abilities, I knew I'd be happy.Įverybody has to eat. As well, the reasoning behind the 90/10 split is that I've never had a car tuned before and didn't know what to expect. The other 10% was checking out what other work Ed had done in the past and seeing what the results others had versus the cost of the tune. His recommendation was 90% of my decision to not only get tuned but to have Ed do the job. Cardoc is an exceptionally knowledgeable mechanic. Ed came highly recommended by forum member Cardoc, who was working with Ed in tuning his Gen2 H6 after adding a supercharger. Last November I'd asked on the forum what options there were for tuning my car. I can comment on XRT's service as Ed has tuned my car. I can't directly comment on Cryotune's experience or service level as I hadn't heard of them until now.
